Back-to-School Woes

Pens? Check. Notebooks? Check. iPad? Check. Intense need to go back to bed? Check. This is what I said to myself on the first day of school, only comforted by the fact that 200 plus students felt the exact same way. Going back to school can be hard. Correction: It is hard; getting up before the sun, dealing with schedules, and homework, and people. The seventy-five days between now and Christmas break will be tough!

But then there are the good things: seeing my friends, not dealing with younger siblings, sports, clubs, no guilt of watching ten hours of Netflix. School isn’t the worst thing. I could be working in the fields for sixteen hours a day. Out of all the schools in the world, St. John’s Prep is one of the better ones. They are a lot of things to complain about, but also things to look forward to. And, although it can be hard to remember in IB classes at eight in the morning, when your bed is calling you, you time will start looking up. School has started and, for once, I’m actually excited.
