SJP Girls’ Soccer

Athletics at Saint John’s Prep…definitely not the selling point of the school, but that doesn’t mean that our teams have any less fun. Sure, we might have a few hundred less students than some of the teams that we play, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t give our all. Even when there’s a downpour outside and the boys’ practice has been cancelled, where can you find the girls’ soccer team? Down by Lake Sag putting in a hard conditioning session. That’s right. The risk of possible hypothermia doesn’t even phase us. However, while the size of our school does make us closer, it also limits our numbers. With each senior that graduates, we lose a vital piece of our team. Our current varsity can’t even fathom what it will be like to not see Grayson swatting balls away left and right in the goal or to not watch Leykza slice and dice through opponents on the sidelines. But these changes happen every year, and just like the years before, we will have new players coming up through the ranks. The amount of middle schoolers on our team is baffling. Who knows, maybe in a few years, if they keep improving their skills, even the schools with over a thousand students will fear the days that they have to play the Saint John’s Prep girls’ soccer team.
