Middle School Knowledge Bowl Grows and Excels

SJP Home Knowledge Meet on Halloween

Middle school Knowledge Bowl has been in session for several weeks, and the teams have been doing a great job so far. Over 40 of our middle schoolers signed up this year, which makes for a lot of successful teams (and very cramped practice rooms). As of writing this article, there have been three meets so far and the 6th grade team has earned 4th, 7th, and 9th, while the 7th and 8th grade teams have earned (top 3) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the first meet, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th at the second meet, and 2nd, 3rd, and 6th at the third meet.

I managed to talk with Mr. Miller, the Knowledge Bowl coach, and he gave me his wonderful opinions on this year’s team. He thinks the season has been going really well so far and appreciates how much team chemistry has formed. However, the thing probably every Knowledge Bowl team will hear from Mr. Miller is that they need to work on better buzzing. Besides that, Mr. Miller has complimented the team, saying the Knowledge Bowlers are hard-working and fun to be around, and he believes that they will reach their goals. He also commented on the fact that this is the largest Knowledge Bowl group Saint John’s Prep has ever had, saying, “I’m really glad we have everybody here to participate. It is a lot of people, but it’s nice to have so many of them.” In the long run, the coaches and the team members all have high hopes and look forward to the rest of the season.
