In an age where technology plays a major role in our lives, how does a decision on transportation affect the people of a busy city? Uber, a private hire company that operates through a mobile app, has recently lost its license to operate in London. Transport for London (TFL) rejected Uber’s application for a new license because of the company’s lack of corporate responsibility. The lack of cooperate responsibility refers to the company not reporting the serious criminal backgrounds of their drivers and putting their passengers in danger. Although TFL has banned Uber from London, the company’s current license doesn’t expire until Sept 30, 2017. Uber is determined to fight this decision from TFL in court. Until the appeals process is over, which could take several months, Uber is still allowed to operate in the city. The decision to ban Uber in London has affected many people, such as the 40,000 drivers in the city and the 3.5 million people who use the car transportation company.
