Les Mis Ramp Up!

As we head into the second semester of this school year, rehearsals have started for this year’s spring musical: Les Misérables. Les Misérables follows the story of Jean Valjean, a prisoner for nineteen years, a mayor, and fugitive always on the run from the law. Throughout the show, we meet characters that range from hilarious to heartbreaking, and all are unforgettable. Backed by an incredible score with iconic songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Do You Hear the People Sing,” this year’s spring musical will surely be a production to remember. As well as a wonderful script and score, no show would be complete without a solid cast. All involved are very excited for the challenge of bringing this stunning show to life. Caitlin Skahen (gr. 11), who plays Cosette in the show, says, “I think that Les Mis is going to be such a beautiful show. A lot of dedicated and talented people are putting a lot of work into this show, and I cannot wait to see how it all turns out. We’re only two weeks into the rehearsal process, and we’ve already come so far from where we began.” Of course, only being these two weeks in, it is difficult to predict exactly where the show will be when it opens, but already, the show promises to be one to remember.
St. John’s Prep School’s production of Les Misérables will take place at the Paramount Theatre March 23-25, and tickets are on sale now.
