Girls’ Swimming

Cambel Shepherd

The girls’ swimming and diving team is wrapping up the last of their regular meets with a great finish. So far the girls have remained undefeated at home meets going against Rocori, Milaca, and Albany. Throughout the months of August and September, the swim team has only had two losses against Foley but much more wins. The girls went against Olgilvie/Mora in their long course pool and managed to win, with Claire Westling placing 1st place in the 100 breaststroke. During True Team at Sauk Rapids, the swimmers had many personal bests and swam their way onto the podium, including an all Prep girls 200 free relay with Justine Meyer, Sophie Hwang, Cambel Shepherd, and Claire Westling. In general, many points were scored for the team with only 11 girls at the meet. Sadie Kraft and Miranda Meyer recently participated in the JV Conference meet to conclude their season and swam very strongly. The next night, varsity won another meet against Big Lake with Sophie Hwang placing 1st place in
the 100 butterfly. The swimmers are currently in the middle of their exhausting five hour practice before taper for sections. Up next, the girls will have a meet against Holdingford and then their varsity conference at SCSU where they hope to get into the top three. Overall, Miranda Meyer and Sadie Kraft have done really well for their first season, plus significant dives from Miranda. Justine Meyer is wrapping up her final season by representing the team very well and touching first in her 50 free. Sophie Hwang has taken many wins in the 100 butterfly. Cambel Shepherd continues to finish strong in her distance events, the 500 and 200. Coach Daiker carries on in being a great leader to the team and showing pride in her mermaids.
