A few months ago, a NASA rover named Perseverance landed on Mars. It was launched from Earth on July 30, 2020 and arrived on February 18, 2021. The mission of the rover is to look for signs of life and to collect samples for a return to Earth. It will last for approximately one year on Mars. The problem is that they don’t know how or if Perseverance is going to return to Earth. As of right now Perseverance will take samples to certain locations to be picked up by future missions to Mars.

This mission will help future missions to Mars. It has given NASA new insight on the red planet. It will help prepare future rovers and maybe even people on how to best land on the planet. It will help us discover whether or not there is water beneath the surface of the planet and if there is a way to produce oxygen from Mars’s atmosphere.

Perseverance is one of five rovers that have landed on Mars. Every rover has aided our discoveries of Mars and every rover adds to that knowledge and asks new questions. Perseverance is trying to figure out if life every existed on Mars in the first place and where that life would have existed on the planet. Perseverance will play a huge role in helping future travel to Mars.
