Banana

Teresa Nix

On the outside I am tall

And relatively slim

I play the part of rough and tough

But I have delicate skin

It takes some nerve to pry me apart

But when you finally do

You’ll see that life held me together

But humans bit me through

I guess I’m a banana, I mean,

I couldn’t say I’m not

’Cause when life decides it’s through with me

I’ll wither and I’ll rot
